Our compassionate team is dedicated to creating a warm, supportive environment where residents feel at home everyday.

I was inspired to work in healthcare by a deep desire to do good and help others, and I’m especially drawn to the meaningful bond between care staff and residents that makes everyday support so much more than a job
I am Virginia Shelton, serving as Executive Director at Cedar Mountain House, and I bring 15 years of experience across hospitals, long-term care, and assisted living. I was inspired to work in healthcare by a deep desire to do good and help others, and I’m especially drawn to the meaningful bond between care staff and residents that makes everyday support so much more than a job. What I enjoy most is the heart of resident life, the moments when compassion shows up in conversation, comfort, and companionship. My favorite part of Cedar Mountain House is the genuine smiles and laughter I can see and hear from both residents and staff. I hold an MBA in Human Resources Management; I’m SHRM certified, and I have an HRM certification, along with being a certified Med Tech and a Notary Public in North Carolina; my expertise also includes financial and business management. Outside of work, I love crafting, antiquing, and gardening; a fun fact about me is that I free-climbed a waterfall in my youth and managed MMA fighters. One quote I love is “I am, I can, I ought, and I will” (Charlotte Mason), and one of my favorite activities with residents is listening and spending time with them, especially in activities that make them feel truly cherished. Residents and families can also know that I care about creating a warm, respectful environment where people feel valued, supported, and at home.

What I enjoy most about working with residents is uncovering their personal narratives and learning about the experiences that defined their lives
My name is Gloria, and I serve as the Business Office Coordinator at Cedar Mountain House. I’ve worked in healthcare for 10 years, including 2 years with ALG. My inspiration for this field comes from the profound impact we can make during end-of-life care; it’s a privilege to bring comfort and joy to patients during their most vulnerable moments, especially those who may not have nearby family or friends. What I enjoy most about working with residents is uncovering their personal narratives and learning about the experiences that defined their lives, because that connection helps me provide deeply impactful, dignified care at life’s end. My favorite part of our community is the deep sense of family that unites our residents and the dedicated team who serves them every day. I bring a blend of skills to my role, including my clinical background as a certified Med Tech and my leadership experience as a Business Office Manager, and I focus on building bespoke, individualized relationships by adjusting my communication style to meet each person’s distinct needs, so I can advocate effectively and ensure they feel secure and supported. I’m guided by the inspirational quote: “Caregiving has no second agendas or hidden motives. The care is given from love for the joy of giving without expectations, no strings attached.”

I want to be there for people who may not have anyone else looking out for them, and I enjoy most the joy that comes from the smiles, hugs, and laughter
My name is Rebecca Aldridge, and I serve as the Resident Care Coordinator at our community, bringing 8 years of experience in senior care. I was inspired to work in this field because I want to be there for people who may not have anyone else looking out for them, and I enjoy most the joy that comes from the smiles, hugs, and laughter we share. My favorite part of our community is the friendships we’ve built and the genuine love our staff has for their work; they truly care and strive every day to keep our residents happy and healthy. I’m CPR certified and have been a supervisor for 7 years, and I also bring a personal, heart-led approach to care: outside of work, I enjoy snowboarding, hiking, and spending time with friends and family, and I’m a mother of three boys. One of my favorite quotes is, “Age is something that doesn’t matter, unless you are cheese,” and with residents, I love singing and dancing—because my goal is for every resident to feel at home. In fact, my residents truly become my family, and I always strive to ensure they have what they need and receive top-tier care, with someone who can offer a hug, love, and laughter—even on hard days.

I enjoy most about working with residents the opportunity to talk with them and listen as they share their families, experiences, and the memories
I’m Mike Skipper, the Dietary Manager, and I’ve been working in senior living for 20 years. What inspired me to work in this field is the chance to help others and make a real difference in their day—getting to know people, hearing their stories, and making sure they feel cared for and valued. I enjoy most about working with residents the opportunity to talk with them and listen as they share their families, experiences, and the memories that shaped their lives; every resident has a story, and I genuinely take the time to hear it. My favorite part of our community is the employees—we have a strong team that works together and truly cares about our residents. I bring ServSafe certification and extensive experience in dietary services to my role, and I take pride in creating meals that are both safe and satisfying. Outside of work, I enjoy walking my two dogs and watching football and baseball, and my favorite food is a classic hamburger. One of my favorite activities with residents is cooking and preparing their meals, making sure they enjoy what they’re served—because good food is part of meaningful care. As an inspirational reminder of how I serve through dietary experiences, I’m guided by the quote: “Care is shown in the small things—especially the food that brings comfort.” I’m grateful to be part of this community and look forward to getting to know our residents and families even better.

What I enjoy most about working with residents is seeing the smiles on their faces and the enthusiasm they still have
My name is Teresa Martinez, and I serve as the Activities Director/Transport at my community. I’ve worked in senior living or healthcare for about a year and a half, and my inspiration to enter this field came from my sisters who work in healthcare. What I enjoy most about working with residents is seeing the smiles on their faces and the enthusiasm they still have, even as they’ve finely aged. My favorite part of our community is that it truly feels like home—the residents are some of the sweetest and most grateful people I’ve ever met. I bring experience as a caregiver and cosmetologist, along with my roles as an activity director and transport, and my expertise is giving residents the best service and care possible. As a mother of a 2-year-old, I’m great at multitasking, organizing, and problem-solving. I’ll always find a way to help residents get what they need, just like I do with my own child. My passion is giving, and I truly hope every resident feels seen, supported, and included; I’m guided by the quote, “The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra.”

What inspired me to work in this field is my enjoyment of helping people and knowing that my work makes a real difference
My name is Michael Shelton, and I serve as the Maintenance Director at Cedar Mountain House. I’ve worked in healthcare for over 10 years, and during that time I’ve gained experience across several areas, learning how essential every department is in creating a safe, comfortable, and welcoming home for residents. What inspired me to work in this field is my enjoyment of helping people and knowing that my work makes a real difference—because in senior living, even a “small” repair or improvement can greatly impact comfort, safety, and quality of life. The part I enjoy most about working with residents is getting to know them personally: I love hearing their stories, joking around with them, and being someone they feel comfortable coming to when they need something. My favorite part of Cedar Mountain House is the family atmosphere—it isn’t just a workplace, and I take pride in helping make it a place residents are truly proud to call home. I bring hands-on experience and expertise in facility maintenance, repairs, preventive maintenance, environmental services, commercial cleaning, and floor care. Outside of work, I enjoy woodworking and laser engraving, and a fun fact about me is that I’m a third-degree Freemason, with brotherhood, fellowship, service, and helping others as values I hold close. I’m guided by the quote, “People may forget what you said and what you did, but they will never forget how you made them feel,” and one of my favorite activities with residents is sitting down to talk—listening to stories, joking around, and finding ways to make them smile. I want residents and families to know that I take real pride in what I do: I’m not just maintaining a building; I’m helping care for people’s homes so every resident feels comfortable and safe, and every family feels confident their loved one is being cared for.

I’ve been motivated to learn more about the different kinds of care and services we provide, and to grow with the team
My name is Melinda Schneider, and I am the Lead Housekeeper at Cedar Mountain House. Honestly, this is my first experience working in senior living or healthcare, and I’ve been on the job for nearly 12 years. What inspired me to work in this field was the everyday challenges and the opportunity to work with different individuals: staff, employees, caregivers, and especially our residents. I’ve been motivated to learn more about the different kinds of care and services we provide, and to grow with the team. What I enjoy most about working with residents is having nice, meaningful conversations that bring joy and comfort to both of us; I also love listening to their life stories from before they moved in, and I truly enjoy seeing them laugh when I tell jokes and when they participate in the activities we plan. My favorite part of our community is when special holidays are coming, and everyone shares ideas and plans, helps each other, and works together like one big family. I may have limited skills, but I contribute where I can: I can help in the kitchen, assist with small maintenance tasks, and I also help on the floor as a PCA. Outside of work, I enjoy baking goodies, especially baking my own bread, along with cooking, singing, and spending time with my two grandkids whenever I can. A fun fact about me is that I’m a funny person who loves joking to make others laugh. My favorite activities with residents include chatting, joking around to bring smiles, and helping them organize their things. My favorite foods are sushi, spring rolls, pancit (noodles), and fried chicken wings. Most of all, I’m friendly, and I’m open to meeting residents’ families and friends. I’m inspired by the belief that housekeeping is a real form of care, and I’m guided by this quote: “To serve with care is to bless someone’s day; clean spaces help hearts feel safe and at home.”
